2 types of Glows?

There are two kinds of light--the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures.
- James Thurber

Is it Possible?

Is it possible that you try to spend all your energy avoiding the mistakes of those before you and instead you end up creating mistakes that are far grander and more elaborate?

Yeah, I think so.

Damn. I know so.

Sigh.

Evidence available unpon request, not that it is any of your business.

Then whose business is it, Elkins? Then what are you going to do about it?

Merry frickin' christmas. I'm so done with this year, when will it end? Oh yeah, in 6 days. But that doesn't really solve anything, does it?

No, but it is a start, or a step.

I've going to see family for Xmas, that is as far as I'm planning (that is a lie, but it a better lie than I've been telling myself).

Hughs Family Blog: Ice Storm and now snow

Bob Hughes has some nice pics of the Ice Storm and now snow. Bob is a good friend. A guy I can trust, when I can't trust myself.

You know one of my problems? I grew up in Michigan, so I kind of like Ice Storms. I like to see other people struggle with ice and it makes me feel stronger. That isn't right is it?

Maybe not, but I need to get over it.

down and out in Independence? No, not really.

Not really. But this year has sucked. Sucked Big time.

The nice thing about a year is that it will be over. Today is Friday the 14th. A good day? I think so. You see I was born on Friday the 13th in the Summer of '69, a month before the 1st man walked on the moon.

Perhaps it wasn't the 1st time a human being walked on the moon. Perhaps it didn't happen at all, but instead was a filmed in a sound stage in Austin.

But I don't think so. But I do believe so. I also believe that even if it was a myth, that is good too.

I believe in hope. Above all, I believe in hope. And boy, did that ever our country hope.

Also, if the government could pull off a hoax like that, then surely universal health care is possible.

Declarations - WSJ.com

I have not yet listed to Mitt Romney's big speech (Declarations - WSJ.com) on his Mormon faith and running for president. I'd love to hear any responses that any of you might have.

Touchstone Archives: Dead on Impact

I have long been involved with a group, Missouri Impact. Impact is an Interfaith statewide advocacy focused on peace & justice issues in Missouri. I started to serve on the board of Impact in 1996. During my time with the organization, we have been a free-standing, stand alone organization. However, at one point there was a national Impact that helped coordinated the network and also focused on national policy.

I found an interesting article that talks about the demise of the national Interfaith Impact. Definitely worth a read for those interested in faith and politics: Touchstone Archives: Dead on Impact.
